Head of Tax EMEA

What you can expect

The Head of Tax, EMEA acts as the regional extension and local support of the headquarter team for the EMEA region. The role is responsible for executing and supporting the group tax strategy at a local level, ensuring consistency, compliance, and effective risk management across all jurisdictions in scope.

The position provides on-the-ground expertise to support corporate decision-making, while contributing tax insights to regional finance leadership in close coordination with the regional finance directors.

  1. Liaison for and representation of Group Finance and Tax Headquarter
  • Act as the primary local point of contact for tax in the EMEA region.
  • Execute and support the implementation of group tax strategy, policies, and governance frameworks at regional and country levels.
  • Provide timely, structured analysis and recommendations to group finance and tax headquarters on local tax matters, risks, and opportunities.
  • Ensure effective escalation, documentation, and follow-up on material tax issues affecting the region.
  1. Regional Tax Operations and Compliance
  • Coordinate and oversee international and local tax compliance activities across the region, in line with group finance and tax headquarter standards and timelines.
  • Manage relationships with regional finance directors, local finance teams and external advisors to ensure accurate and timely filings.
  • Monitor local tax law developments and assess impacts for group finance and tax Headquarters review and decision-making.
  1. Tax Risk Management and Controversy
  • Identify and assess tax risks across the region and support group finance and tax headquarters in defining appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Lead local tax audits and controversy, keeping group finance and tax headquarters fully informed of progress, exposure, and resolution strategies.
  • Support tax risk reporting, provisioning, and communication in coordination with group finance and tax headquarters.
  1. International Tax and Transfer Pricing Support
  • Support the design and application of group transfer pricing policies across the region.
  • Coordinate local documentation and audit defense in line with headquarter guidance.
  • Provide local input on cross-border transactions, restructurings, and intercompany arrangements.
  1. Tax and Finance Interface
  • Work closely with the regional finance directors to ensure tax impacts are accurately reflected in effective tax rate, cash taxes, and tax-related provisions, in line with headquarter guidance.
  • Support financial planning and major business decisions by providing tax analysis and explaining tax drivers.
  • Contribute tax input to budgeting, forecasting, and investment discussions.
  1. Tax and Business Interface
  • Act as a local tax business partner to regional operations and commercial teams.
  • Support M&A, expansion, and strategic projects from a tax perspective.
  • Participate in cross-functional initiatives where tax input is required by group finance and tax headquarters.

What you will bring

  • 10+ years of experience in corporate tax in the region, with strong exposure to international tax, tax risk management and tax governance in multi-jurisdictional environments.
  • Proven experience acting as a local relay and trusted advisor to headquarter teams.
  • Strong exposure to financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow considerations, enabling effective dialogue with CFO-level stakeholders.
  • Solid understanding of financial statements and tax accounting, including IFRS, sufficient to translate tax matters into financial and business implications.
  • CPA and/or professional tax qualification.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages (French/Dutch/German) are an asset.
