Graduation Assignment - Vector Gridding of Pipeline Inspection Data

Description

For our ROSEN Europe location Oldenzaal, we are currently looking for a student who wants to do a fulltime graduation assignment for 5-6 months.

The graduation project consists of developing and testing an algorithm (preferably Python, Matlab also possible) to create a regular grid of 3-axis pipeline inspection data along the surface of the pipeline (‘pipeline coordinates’). Special attention points are defining and implementing a suitable gridding algorithm and handling of noise/data loss areas. A possible extension can be development of a FEM model grid.

Program
The graduation project consists of the following phases:

  • Project identification: in this phase the goal of the specific project is defined and during setting up the planning several subtasks and milestones are identified.
  • Project execution: in this phase the several subtasks are performed. Continuous feedback from the organization will enable an usable end result will be achieved.
  • Reporting phase: in a dedicated report the several steps of the project will be described and the found algorithm is in detail described.
  • Project finishing: in a final presentation the organization will be informed about the results.

Requirements

  • Student Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics or Applied Mathematics on University or HTS
  • Good communication skills in English (verbally and in writing)
  • Proactive/Self-starter taking ownership and responsibility for his projects and/or tasks

Meetings to discuss progress and upcoming issues will be scheduled periodically. Furthermore a financial allowance will be provided to the student.
