Senior GIS Consultant
DescriptionWe are looking for a Sr. GIS Consultant based in Houston Texas to primarily support customers in the USA, and sporadically in Mexico, and Central America Region of ROSEN.
The Senior Geographic Information Systems Consultant (Sr. GIS Consultant) is responsible for executing the spatial software vision of the Integrity Solutions team and ROSEN, by coupling GIS and other data throughout the organization to solve integrity management problems. The Sr. GIS Consultant will work within ROSEN USA and with the clients we serve to define, implement, and maintain solutions focused on operational safety, regulatory compliance, and other challenges facing the industry.
The Sr. GIS Consultant role will work with the team to execute the vision for client success and lead the GIS-focused consulting services to achieve the success. The individual will work to grow the skills across the team, and champion to increase the awareness of spatial software solutions in the industry.
In addition to consulting responsibilities, the Sr. GIS Consultant will be engaged through the project acquisition and project execution phases. The consultant will be engaged through the sales process, working with clients to define a vision and scoping the vision. The consultant will also work to ensure client needs are met, projects are in scope, and in budget.
Software: The Sr. GIS Consultant is technically proficient in the Esri platform, and related technologies. Familiarity with Safe Software FME is preferred. The individual is able to install, configure, maintain, and upgrade the breadth of the software solutions, and can guide others to successfully do the same.
Data analysis: The Sr. GIS Consultant will be adept in a variety of methods to evaluate and analyze data, apply spatial processing, and work to educate team members and our clients.
Visualization and Analytics: The Sr. GIS Consultant will show proficiency in a variety of visualization methods, including cartographic expertise, charting and graphing, reporting, and other relevant visualization techniques.
Project management: As a Sr. GIS Consultant you will be involved in a variety of projects, many of which are likely to occur at the same time. This individual will be organized and adept at multitasking and managing client expectations, work towards deadlines, and work with the team to stay within project budgets and in scope.
Business Development: The Sr. GIS Consultant will be familiar with the sales process, facilitate software demonstrations, and guide clients through the decision process. The Sr. GIS Consultant will be active in working with the Sales Manager to define and scope consulting initiatives.
An ability to communicate well: As a Sr. GIS Consultant, this position requires the ability to pitch project ideas, work to define the project scope, and work to ensure the client needs are met. This position will be involved in proposal development, client reporting, and working hand-in-hand with clients to meet project deliverables.
Exceptional writing skills: The Sr. GIS Consultant will need to communicate effectively, to a variety of individuals, with a variety of knowledge in the domain. The ability to convey relevant subject matter expertise to all project stakeholders is imperative.
Sales skills: The Sr. GIS Consultant will need to guide clients through the process of investing in consultancy services; conveying what is needed, and why it is needed . Non-GIS users may not know what reports they need or which models they need building, so it's your job to get to the root of their problem and find a solution.
- Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, or other relevant degree
- 10+ years relevant experience, demonstrated success in applying GIS and related technologies
- Deep understanding of Esri software, and how to apply the technology
- Understanding of linear referenced GIS (LRS) required, familiarity with pipeline GIS requested
- Experience in data management and integrity management practices
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated success of software scripting
- Proven success in the lifecycle of consultative engagement: sales, execution, project closure, client relationship management
- Familiarity with inline inspection technologies
- Travel up to 50% of the time
