For our Science Disciplines Team we are looking for a

Technology Expert for Data Science (m/f)

Data Science methods are being used for many years at ROSEN in order to extract integrity related information from measured data generated by our own inspection tools. A major role in this challenge is the performance, the robustness and the reliability of algorithms. Data can be very heterogeneous and comprise up to several terabytes. Besides the application of known data science tools in demanding technology projects this position requires the identification of state-of-the art data science technologies suitable for applications in ROSEN, the validation of these technologies and the transfer into product development with the help of prototype implementations. If necessary the methods need to be tailored to suit the specific ROSEN environment and refined in cooperation with partners in universities and research institutes.

Responsibilities:
  • The focus is on methods, techniques and technologies in the data science environment (How can the extraction of information be designed robust, reliable and with good performance? How can these methods be tailored and refined? Where are trends pointing, which trends are suitable for ROSEN?)
  • Validation of data science technologies in specific applications with the help of prototypes
  • Familiarization in state-of-the-art data science technologies
  • Support of technology development, especially sensor development, with tailored algorithms
  • Identification of potential research partners
  • Preparation and supervision of research cooperations with national and international partners
  • Preparation and supervision of student theses
  • Author research papers
  • Visit of national and international conferences on a regular basis

Requirements

To become part of the Rosen family, you convice through an independent and reliable working method. Moreover you should bring with you:
  • Successfully completed a degree in mathematics, statistics, science, informatics or in a related area
  • Well-founded knowledge in areas like machine learning, statistics, data mining, image processing and visualization
  • Experience in programming in a high-level programming language like python
  • Good knowledge in the handling of relevant data science open source libraries
  • Enthusiasm for new technologies
  • Strong motivation to learn new things
  • Very good knowledge of English language spoken and written
